What is the jealousy test and what does it look at?
It is a 10-question quiz about how you respond when attention, success or affection goes somewhere else. Each question describes a situation and offers four reactions, from relaxed to intense. The total places you in one of three bands with a short description of what that pattern usually looks like from the outside.
It is for anyone who has ever been accused of jealousy, anyone who suspects they are the jealous one in the relationship, and anyone who wants to check whether a partner's complaint is fair. It also works for friendships and sibling rivalries, which are where most people first learned the feeling.

How does the jealousy test work?
Read each situation and pick the answer closest to what you would actually do, not what you would like to think you would do. Someone flirts with your partner: do you find it funny, trust them, get annoyed or step in? A friend gets the grades you wanted: do you congratulate them or find it unfair? The quiz adds it up and shows your result instantly.
The most useful part is the pattern across categories. Some people are completely relaxed about their partner and fiercely competitive with friends, or the other way round. The questions make that visible.
What questions are in the jealousy test?
A few of the situations you will meet:
- Your partner likes a photo of someone attractive. Do you not notice, let it go, bring it up later, or check who it is?
- Your best friend gets a new best friend. Are you happy for them, a bit left out, or quietly competitive?
- Your partner goes out without you. Do you enjoy your own evening or keep checking your phone?
- How often do you check your partner's last seen or online status?
- Someone flirts with your partner. Do you find it funny, trust them, get annoyed or step in immediately?
Is jealousy always a bad sign?
No. A little jealousy is a normal reaction to caring about someone, and the middle result of this test is where most honest people land. It becomes a problem when it turns into checking, controlling, accusing or sulking, which is what the green-eyed monster answers describe. If you landed there and recognise yourself, the fix is usually about trust and your own confidence rather than about your partner's behaviour, and that is a good thing, because it is the part you can change.
Why do couples and friends share the jealousy test?
Because it settles an argument that otherwise goes in circles. One person says you are so jealous, the other says I am not, and the quiz gives both of them something concrete to point at. It spreads in couple chats after a fight about Instagram, in friend groups when someone's new relationship is making them disappear, and among siblings who are still competing at thirty. In the US and UK it often follows a viral clip about a jealous partner; in India and the Philippines it circulates in group chats as a dare, with everyone posting their result. People also take it quietly on their own after a bad reaction they regret, to work out whether it was a one-off or a habit.
Jealousy test FAQ
What do the jealousy test results mean?
Totally chill means your answers described trust and very little reaction. Just a little jealous means you notice things and sometimes feel a sting but let it go. Green-eyed monster means several answers involved checking, confronting or feeling upset, which is a pattern worth looking at honestly.
Can I take the jealousy test for my partner?
You can answer how you think they would react, but the result is only as good as your guesses. It is better to send them the page and ask them to take it, then compare. Many couples find they each rated the other as more jealous than the quiz did.
Does the jealousy test cover friendship and work too?
Yes. Only about half the questions are about a partner. The rest are about a best friend finding a new best friend, a friend getting the job or grades you wanted, and similar moments. Jealousy at work and between friends is common and often ignored, so the test includes it on purpose.
Is being a green-eyed monster something I can change?
Usually, yes. Most intense jealousy comes from insecurity and from habits like checking a phone or a last-seen timestamp. Replacing the checking with a direct question, and building up your own friendships and plans, tends to lower it over time. If it causes real conflict, a counsellor can help.
How long does the jealousy test take and is it anonymous?
Ten questions, about a minute, no account and no email. Nothing is sent to your partner or anyone else. You can retake it whenever you like, and comparing results after a few months is a decent way to see whether you have become more relaxed.
Is this the same as the red flag test?
They overlap but ask different things. The jealousy test is only about jealous reactions across love, friendship and work. The red flag test covers a wider range of dating behaviour, from punctuality to how you talk about exes, and rates you as a green, beige or red flag.
